NTIHC provides a core package of youth-friendly comprehensive pregnancy related services to young women. The services include pregnancy testing, antenatal care, post natal care, nutrition, post abortion care and family planning services after a pregnancy.
All service users who come for taking a pregnancy test are counseled about HIV testing, including informed and advised about the importance of consistent and correct use of condoms and contraceptives to prevent future unplanned pregnancies.
In 2009 a total of 1,328 pregnancy tests were carried out of which 610 were positive. 56% of clients who turned out to be pregnant were in the age bracket 20-24 years old and 43% in the bracket 15-19 years old. Only 1% was between 10-14 years old. 52% of all pregnancies were un-intended.
Antenatal services started in 2004 in respond to the increasing number of positive pregnancy tests carried out at NTIHC. This service has been appreciated by young people with an average daily attendance of 25 mothers
